I feel like 2015 is the year of “planning”. Meal planning what you are going to make for the week. Meal planning what you are going to eat each day of the week. Meal planning what your family will eat, what your dog will eat, what your children (should you have them) 3 years from now will eat.
A good point was made to me a few weeks ago. Do you plan your weekly workouts? They why wouldn’t you plan to fuel those workouts? GAH MORE PLANNING! I hate planning. What happened to flying by the seat of your pants for dinner? Apparently, this leads to over eating and might explain my fatty issues! In the hopes of better fueling and better workouts I began not only planning dinner for the week but planning each day of meals.
I started using my Erin Codren life planner for weekly meals. Sitting down each night and planning out the next day or 2. Then, major step here, I actually carry it with me and follow it! I have also started planning for Jon and I. You know how some people use those family calendars for events and where their kids need to be and when? Yea, we use it so we know each other’s workouts and what we are making for dinner that night.
As you can see it was IRONMAN Maryland week when I took this photo. We have 3 days of meals planned along with our workouts. Thanks Post-it for making a pretty awesome weekly calendar. Each Sunday we tear it down and start a new week.
I don’t know what would work for your family but this seems to be working for ours. With Jon being a veggie-only athlete it takes a bit more planning for protein and stuff.
